

09 April 2025 European Movement Ireland is pleased to announce two new appointments to its voluntary board of directors: the former Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategist Sofi Musleh. Ms. O’Sullivan and Ms. Musleh join the distinguished voluntary board of Ireland’s longest established organisation dedicated to European affairs, chaired by former CEO of Enterprise Ireland, Julie Sinnamon.
Chair of European Movement Ireland’s Board, Julie Sinnamon said; “We are delighted to welcome Nóirín Ó Sullivan and Sofi Musleh, to the board of EM Ireland. At a time of much geopolitical uncertainty, with the ongoing war in Ukraine, the erosion of multilateralism and other pressing issues, both Nóirín and Sofi bring a wealth of experience, skill and talent to the board, which will assist in shaping and informing our decision making into the future.
In appointing Ms. O Sullivan and Ms. Musleh, they join a board dedicated to EM Ireland’s mission, which seeks to develop the connection between Ireland and Europe and achieve a greater public understanding of and engagement with the European Union and our European partners.”
Nóirín O’Sullivan is an executive leader with over 40 years of public sector experience, who made history becoming the first ever female Commissioner to lead Ireland’s National Policing and Security Service. Furthermore, she was previously appointed United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Safety and Security. More recently, she chaired the Oireachtas Cross Party Task Force on Safe Participation in Political Life, producing a report and recommendations which are currently being implemented. She also holds roles as an Independent non-executive director, and strategic advisor, including serving on the board of the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), and the advisory board of the Smurfit Business School, UCD.

They both bring a unique skillset and notable public and corporate experience, along with a commitment to further enhancing our mission to continue to drive our connection and engagement at an EU level.
Sofi Musleh is a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategist with over 18 years’ experience spanning corporate, public and non-profit sectors. She has worked extensively in developing and executing DEI strategies for multinational organisations such as Novartis, Sodexo, and DocuSign and delivered a TEDx talk among other high profile discussions on DEI. She also sits on the board of directors for The Complex Art Centre and has previously held governance roles, which includes board membership of First Light, a charity dedicated to supporting parents going through sudden bereavement.
Ms. O’Sullivan and Ms. Musleh join Directors of the Board of European Movement Ireland which includes Chair Julie Sinnamon, Treasurer Lynda Carroll, Vice-Chair Fiach MacConghail, Catherine Day, Michael Shovlin, Rory Montgomery, Rickard Mills, Gary Joyce, Stephanie Anderson and CEO Noelle O Connell.
