
9 June 2026 European Movement Ireland is pleased to announce a new appointment to its voluntary Board of Directors, Head of Financial Services and Head of Regulatory Consulting at KPMG, Ian Nelson. Ian has 25 years of experience in regulatory, risk management and financial services markets. Ian is also Head of Investment & Growth for KPMG Ireland.
European Movement Ireland Board Member, Ian Nelson, said: “It is a great privilege to be appointed to the Board of Directors for European Movement Ireland at such a pivotal time in Europe and in the year of Ireland’s EU Presidency. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with a number of EU institutions, such as the European Central Bank, and am deeply aware of the important role they play in our day-to-day lives. I look forward to supporting the work of European Movement Ireland during this important year and beyond.”
Ian is Head of Financial Services for KPMG Ireland, which includes Banking, Aviation Finance, Asset Management, Insurance, Fintechs and Private Equity. Previously in his career, Ian was seconded to the Central Bank of Ireland as the Head of the Financial Measures Programme, where he worked closely with several European institutions, including the European Central Bank and the European Commission.

With competitiveness earmarked as a major priority for the Irish government, Ian brings invaluable expertise to our Board of Directors”
Ian also holds the position of Head of Regulatory Consulting for KPMG Ireland, where he works with many domestic and international banks and other financial services companies in Ireland in various capacities. Ian holds an Honours Degree in Accounting & French from Queen’s University Belfast and is a Chartered Accountant.
