EMI Brexit Bites
The UK’s vote to leave the European Union is an issue of vital importance for Ireland and indeed for the EU. Ireland is the Member State that is most impacted by the UK’s departure from the EU, and Brexit gives rise to a multitude of issues on the island of Ireland, North and South, and across a variety of sectors.
Since, and indeed before, the UK’s referendum on EU membership on 23 June 2016, EM Ireland has recognised this and worked tirelessly to inform all sectors of Irish society on both the process of Brexit and its potential implications for the whole island of Ireland.
We have held a series of National Conversation Dialogues around the country, to help to inform and stimulate debate on the issue. These have been combined with the publication of EM Ireland’s Brexit A-Z, and a number of European Movement Ireland’s Just the Facts policy briefings on Brexit, shining a light on the multifaceted and numerous issues which have sprung from the UK’s vote.
As an organisation, Brexit continues to represent an important priority in the work of EM Ireland, to focus on informing on the latest Brexit developments.
