My MEP – My Voice is a new 32-county initiative open to 18-25 year olds with a passion for communicating and a desire to have their voice heard in the upcoming European Elections. European Movement Ireland (EM Ireland) is collaborating with a number of partner organisations (European Movement Northern Ireland, the Immigrant Council of Ireland, Opportunity Youth, SpunOut, Young Irish Filmmakers and WIMPS) to bring together over a hundred young people to create a youth manifesto video for the upcoming European Elections in May.
My MEP – My Voice will bring young citizens together to create an online video outlining what they want from their MEPs. Before this video goes viral it will be shown to all the European election candidates at four Irish regional screenings that will double up as election hustings.
My MEP – My Voice participants will be given access to professional film crews, advocacy trainers and script writers to help develop their video manifesto, while a number of high profile TV figures have agreed to come on board and help the participants prepare.
Speaking in advance of the launch of My MEP – My Voice today, EM Ireland Executive Director, Noelle O Connell, said: “We are extremely excited about this new programme and the opportunity to work closely with so many young citizens over the coming months to help them have their voices heard. My MEP – My Voice offers young people a unique opportunity to have their say and become active and engaged in the upcoming European elections”.
More information on the Programme, and application forms for interested participants, are available from the My MEP – My Voice page of the EM Ireland website.
