Office Team

The EM Ireland office team is made up of the staff and stagiaires who run the organisation on a daily basis from 8 Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2.

Noelle O Connell MAILCHIMPNoelle O ConnellExecutive

Noelle was appointed Executive Director of European Movement Ireland in April 2011.  Prior to leading European Movement Ireland, Noelle provided business development training, education and public affairs consultancy to a wide variety of both private and public sector clients.  She held management consultancy positions in Accenture; headed up the Training, Education and Development function of the Construction Industry Federation, and was formerly a Director on the Board of Skillnets.

Noelle also has significant experience in the co-operative and third-level sectors and holds an MSc in International & European Politics from the University of Edinburgh, a BA Hons in European Studies and Languages from UCC.  She is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Training and Development, a member of the CIPD and the Institute of Directors of Ireland, and is also a member of the Board of Alliance Française Ireland.

nora 1Nora Trench Bowles – Policy and Advocacy Manager –

Nora joined the EM Ireland team in March 2016.  Prior to that, she worked for the Secretariat-General of the European Commission in Brussels, firstly as a Blue Book stagiaire on relations between the Commission and national Parliaments, then as a member of the team that oversaw the adoption in May 2015 of the Digital Single Market Strategy, and most recently in the office of the Secretary-General.

Nora graduated with a double MA degree in European studies from Uppsala University, Sweden and the University of Strasbourg, France, and she holds a BA International Hons from UCD in History and Politics.  Nora completed the EM Ireland stage in 2010, and has also done stages in the Council of Europe and the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

As Policy and Advocacy Manager, Nora is responsible for developing EM Ireland’s Advocacy, Programmes and Policy areas in line with the organisation’s overall Strategic Plan.

Niamh Connolly – Communications and Public Affairs Manager –

Niamh joined the EM Ireland team in March 2017. Niamh was previously a Special Advisor to Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald TD in the Department of Justice and Equality.  She also served as her Special Advisor in the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.  Niamh has also worked as a Communications Advisor with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC).

As Head of Communications and Development with EM Ireland, Niamh is responsible for conceptualising, planning and implementing the organisation’s internal and external communications strategy in line with the organisation’s overall Strategic Plan.  She drives public relations activity, media, online engagement and outreach of the organisation’s expanding range of programmes, projects, events and activities.  

Evelyn Mulcahy – Finance and Operations Manager –

Evelyn joined the EM Ireland team in March 2017. Evelyn has many years’ experience in Finance Management, Operations and Business Development across the wholesale, retail and education sectors coupled with qualifications in Economics, Politics and Business Studies. Evelyn has responsibility for the organisation’s office management and financial administration. She also has a key role in membership and stakeholder development, and supports the Executive Director in maintaining key relationships with stakeholders, funders, partners and members.

Ryan Levis  Press and Projects Consultant –

EM Ireland’s Press and Projects Consultant works closely with the organisation in dealing with press queries, social media engagements and general communications, as well as taking a lead role in the organisation’s project work, including coordinating the educational programme, ‘The Blue Star Programme’.

Sam Nariani  Dr. Garret FitzGerald Policy and Research Scholar –

EM Ireland’s Policy and Research Scholar works closely with the organisation’s staff in the research, drafting and preparation of a wide variety of publications and communications materials.

  Communications Stagiaire –

EM Ireland’s Communications Stagiaire is responsible for supporting the work of the Communications and Public Affairs team and contributing to the implementation of EM Ireland’s communications strategy across a range of platforms.
