2013 marks the 40th anniversary of Irish accession to the EU. This anniversary coincides with Ireland’s 7th rotation as President of the Council of the EU and with the designation of 2013 as the European Year of Citizens.
In light of successful launch of the Year of Citizens by the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and President Barroso in Dublin, and to follow on from the Citizens’ Dialogue event which took place with Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms Viviane Reding & Minister of State for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton TD, (full details below) EM Ireland are pleased to announce a number of regional dialogues which will take place around the country over the course of 2013.
The first of these is a lunchtime dialogue in Cork City Hall on Friday, 15 February. This dialogue invites citizens from Cork and the surrounding areas to engage in open and frank discussions with high-level political and economic figures, as well as local business leaders and EU representatives.
Full details on the Cork event are available by following this link.
