2013 marks the 40th anniversary of Irish accession to the EU. This anniversary coincides with Ireland’s seventh Presidency of the Council of the EU and with the designation of 2013 as the European Year of Citizens. In light of the successful launch of the Year of Citizens by the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and President Barroso in Dublin at the beginning of January, and to follow on from the Citizens’ Dialogue event which took place with Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms Viviane Reding, and former Minister for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton TD, EM Ireland are pleased to host a number of Regional Dialogues around the country over the course of 2013. To this end, we are delighted to invite you to participate in a forthcoming lunchtime dialogue in Kildare with:
- Minister of State for European Affairs, Paschal Donohoe TD
- Ambassador of Germany in Ireland, HE Dr. Eckhard Lübkemeier
- Head of Unit, Living Conditions and Quality of Life, European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), Robert Anderson
This free event will be chaired by Executive Director of European Movement Ireland, Noelle O Connell, and opened by Mayor of Kildare, Councillor Mark Wall.
The Dialogue will feature short presentations from the panel of speakers, after which the floor will be open to members of the audience to ask questions, raise topics of discussion and voice their issues.
This free event will take place from 1pm to 2pm, with light refreshments available from 12.30pm. The venue for this event will be confirmed in the coming days.
