The Irish Government and the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice will convene an international conference in Dublin to highlight the links between climate change, hunger and poor nutrition. This event will bring together global leaders, policy-makers and scientists with representatives of communities who are striving to produce food sustainably in the regions which are most affected by climate change.
Up to 100 representatives of farmers’ organisations and vulnerable communities from areas including Africa, Asia and the Arctic will attend the conference to explain the impact that unpredictable weather patterns are having on their lives and to outline the solutions which they are pioneering. Many global leaders and policy-makers will contribute to the conference including President of Ireland, Michael D.Higgins, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore TD, President of Malawi Joyce Banda and Former Vice President of the United States of America Al Gore among others. The event is being held under Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
