Rónán Mac Murchaidh, a translator in the European Commission’s Irish-language translation department, will give a presentation on the work of translators in the European Commission and current opportunities for English-language translators. He will explain the application procedure and the various stages of the selection and recruitment process. The language services of the European institutions have a crucial role to play in strengthening communication and helping citizens understand the role of the EU in their everyday lives. Working to strict deadlines, they translate political, legal, financial, scientific and technical texts and provide wide-ranging linguistic advice.
