Here at European Movement Ireland we are delighted to have been appointed as the national implementation body for the Blue Star Programme 2012-2013. Following on from the success of the pilot year of the programme, we look forward to rolling Blue Star out to schools across the country over the next few weeks and months. Registration for the 2012-2013 Programme is now closed and full details of the are available from www.europeanmovement.ie/blue-star or by contacting Blue Star Coordinator Neale Richmond at email@example.com or 01 662 5815.
The Blue Star Programme received the highest of praise from European Commission Vice-President and Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Commissioner, Ms Viviane Reding, who met with pupils of Blue Star recipient St Vincent’s Girls National School, North William Street during her two-day visit to Dublin in late September. Following the presentation of the Blue Star flag and certificates to the school, Commissioner Reding congratulated the girls on their achievement and commended the work of the teachers and the wider school community in supporting the programme. Photos of the Commissioner’s visit and of other Blue Star participants and projects are available to view on the EM Ireland Facebook page.
We are delighted to be working in conjunction with the Department of the Taoiseach’s Communicating Europe Initiative, the office of Minister of State for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton TD, the European Commission Representation in Ireland and the European Parliament Information Office in Ireland on this programme.
